Lock Down Your Workstation
A few simple habits keep your computer and company data safe during the workday. Make these part of your routine.
Lock your screen when you step away
Section titled “Lock your screen when you step away”Any time you leave your desk, lock your screen so no one can use your computer while you are gone. On Windows, press the Windows key + L. Your work stays open, and you unlock with your password when you return.
Install updates promptly
Section titled “Install updates promptly”Updates fix security holes that attackers use. When Windows or an app asks you to update or restart, do it as soon as you can save your work. If we manage your updates, let the scheduled restarts happen rather than putting them off.
Keep your credentials to yourself
Section titled “Keep your credentials to yourself”- Do not share your username or password, even with a coworker who is in a hurry.
- Do not let someone else work under your login.
- Sign out or lock the screen on shared computers when you finish.
Be careful what you install
Section titled “Be careful what you install”Do not install software or browser add-ons unless you know they are needed and approved. If you are not sure, ask us first. Random downloads are a common way for malware to get in.
Report lost or stolen devices right away
Section titled “Report lost or stolen devices right away”If a work laptop, phone, or tablet is lost or stolen, call us immediately at (806) 370-4700. Fast action lets us protect your accounts and, where possible, lock or wipe the device. This is urgent.
Watch for suspicious email
Section titled “Watch for suspicious email”Phishing is still the most common way attacks start. See “How to Spot and Report a Phishing Email” and forward anything suspicious to support@robb.tech.
