Safe Habits for Email, Web, and Devices
A lot of security comes down to everyday habits at the keyboard. These are the small, repeatable practices that keep the common threats out.
Browse and open attachments carefully
Section titled “Browse and open attachments carefully”Web browsers and email are the most common entry points, because they connect you directly to the outside world. Stick to browsers and email apps that are current and fully supported. Be cautious with attachments, especially Office documents and zip files, which are the top carriers of malware. When a link or download feels off, stop and check before you click.
Filtering that works in the background
Section titled “Filtering that works in the background”We put filtering in place so risky content is blocked before it reaches you. DNS and URL filtering steer you away from known-bad and malicious sites. Email anti-malware scans attachments and links. You get a quieter, safer inbox and browser without having to think about it.
Removable media and unknown devices
Section titled “Removable media and unknown devices”USB drives and other removable media are an easy way for malware to jump onto a system. Do not plug in a drive you found or were handed by someone you do not know. We can disable automatic run features so a device cannot launch code the moment it is connected.
Working safely from home and on the road
Section titled “Working safely from home and on the road”In 2020, 90% of U.S. organizations moved people to remote work, but only 29% trained them on how to do it safely. When you work outside the office, use a VPN so your connection is encrypted, keep your home devices updated, and avoid sending sensitive company data over public Wi-Fi. Lock your screen when you step away.
Train your team
Section titled “Train your team”Your team is your best sensor. Regular, short security awareness training keeps everyone current on the latest tricks and gives them practice spotting real ones. Different roles face different risks, so training that fits each role works best.
How we help
Section titled “How we help”We can put filtering, device controls, and remote-access protections in place, and give your team access to strong security awareness training. Small habits, backed by the right tools, stop most attacks.
